Germany kicks off pre-Euro 2024 training camp with 15,000 fans in attendance

Germany’s Euro 2024 training camp kicked off in style in the central town of Jena, with the smell of bratwurst wafting through the air and 15,000 fans in attendance. The team, led by coach Julian Nagelsmann, is based in Thuringia, part of the former East, for its pre-tournament preparations.

After disappointing performances in recent major tournaments, Germany’s wins over France and the Netherlands in March have boosted optimism ahead of the Euros. Sporting director Rudi Voeller expressed the team’s excitement, stating that they are “burning hot” for the tournament and eager to showcase themselves to the nation.

Despite missing several squad members due to club duties, the training session was a hit with fans, with tickets selling out in minutes and over 16,000 people tuning in to watch a livestream online. The players took time to interact with supporters, signing autographs and posing for pictures.

With the tournament opener against Scotland just three weeks away, the team is gearing up for the challenge. Some players, including those participating in the Champions League final, will join the camp later in the week. Youngsters Brajan Gruda and Rocco Reitz have been called up to assist the squad during training.

Overall, the atmosphere at Germany’s training camp is one of excitement and anticipation as the team prepares to compete on home soil in Euro 2024.
