Escanaba Senior Bon LaChance Dominates on the Mound in Win Over Marquette
ESCANABA – When Escanaba senior Bon LaChance takes the mound, he means business. On April 30, 2024, LaChance delivered a stellar performance, pitching a no-hitter through 4 1/3 innings in a 13-1 victory over Marquette.
LaChance’s impressive outing included allowing just one run off one hit, along with four walks and eight strikeouts. This performance adds to LaChance’s already impressive athletic resume, which includes holding the program record for doubles and earning First Team All-U.P. honors as a punter in football.
After the game, Daily Press sports editor “The Big Dog” Mitch Vosburg caught up with LaChance to discuss his stellar performance and future plans. LaChance credited his success on the mound to his curveball and finding the strike zone, despite struggling with his fastball location.
Looking ahead, LaChance revealed his plans to continue his baseball career at Bay College, where he will study business communications before pursuing a degree in finance. With 25 college credits already under his belt as a high school senior, LaChance is well-positioned to excel both on and off the field.
As LaChance and his teammates gear up for the rest of the season, their sights are set on winning districts, a goal that has eluded them in recent years. With LaChance’s leadership and determination, Escanaba’s baseball team is poised for success both on the field and in the classroom.
