Muneeb Akram, a 21-year-old entrepreneur from Teesside, has been making waves in Middlesbrough’s hospitality industry with the opening of Cha Cha Chai, a unique tea house on Linthorpe Road. In just seven months since its launch, the eatery has become a popular spot for loaded donuts, all-day breakfasts, and a variety of other delicious offerings.
Akram saw a gap in the market for something different in the town’s Asian community and decided to bring Cha Cha Chai to Teesside. The venue, located in the former De Melo dessert shop, offers a diverse menu that includes curries, samosas, kebabs, cheesecakes, mocktails, and Karak spiced tea. The establishment has received numerous positive reviews for its tasty food and chic ambiance.
Having studied business during his time in education, Akram has always had an entrepreneurial mindset. In addition to Cha Cha Chai, he also owns Mist Lounge, a popular shisha, snooker, and pool venue on Linthorpe Road. Known for serving the “best shisha in Middlesbrough,” Mist Lounge has garnered a loyal customer base.
Akram, who is currently pursuing a business and management degree at Teesside University, is focused on attracting more students to his establishments with enticing offers and discounts. With plans to participate in the upcoming Teesside Restaurant Week, Akram is set to further establish himself as a prominent figure in the local hospitality scene.
