Thalapathy Vijay’s Blockbuster Film Ghilli Set to Re-Release After 20 Years
Thalapathy Vijay’s iconic film Ghilli, which took the Tamil cinema industry by storm when it first released in 2004, is all set to be re-released in theatres to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The production house Mega Surya Production made the exciting announcement on social media, much to the delight of fans.
Ghilli, a sports action-drama that also starred Trisha Krishnan in a pivotal role, became the biggest Tamil blockbuster of its time and solidified Vijay’s position as a superstar in the industry. The film follows the story of Saravana Velu, played by Vijay, who intervenes to save a girl named Dhanalakshmi from a menacing gangster, portrayed by Prakash Raj.
The production company shared a tweet stating, “Get ready to witness the full #Ghilli performance of THALAPATHY @actorvijay sir on big screens once again! Let’s celebrate the massiest cult blockbuster of Namma Vijay Anna in theatres this 20th April commemorating its 20th Anniversary!”
Directed by Dharani and featuring a stellar cast including Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi, and others, Ghilli was a massive success at the box office, grossing Rs 50 crore on a budget of Rs 8 crore. The film was also remade in other languages like Kannada, Bengali, and Hindi.
