Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta: Where Sport and Lifestyle Meet in Perfect Harmony • Live Sail Die

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta continued on day two with a light north-easterly wind providing the perfect conditions for a thrilling day of racing. Organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda with the support of title sponsor Giorgio Armani, the regatta showcased some of the most impressive superyachts in the world.

The day started with the Superyacht division setting off downwind, unfurling gennakers of over 600 square metres to sail along the channel between the islands of the La Maddalena archipelago and Sardinia. The race concluded at the lighthouse on the island of Barrettinelli di Fuori, with YCCS member Juan Ball’s Swan 115 Moat claiming victory in both real and corrected time. With Guillermo Parada on tactics and Pablo Difazio at the helm, the team navigated the challenging course with precision and skill.

In the Southern Wind Rendezvous, the yachts enjoyed a friendly competition within the La Maddalena channel, sailing past the unique rock formations that characterize this part of Sardinia. The competitive spirit was evident as the two Southern Wind 96 models, Nyumba and Liberty, raced neck and neck to the finish line, showcasing the skill and camaraderie of the participating crews.

Yves Montanari, tactician on Liberty, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, highlighting the fantastic atmosphere and friendly competition among the superyacht owners and crews. Massimo Galassini, owner of Kiboko, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the unique experience of sailing in Sardinia and the Costa Smeralda, in partnership with a prestigious brand like Giorgio Armani.

After a day of exhilarating racing, the participants returned to the dock in Porto Cervo with smiles all around, looking forward to the “Night in Blue” dinner organized by the Southern Wind shipyard in the village of San Pantaleo. The event provided a perfect blend of sport and lifestyle, allowing owners and crews to enjoy the thrill of competition on the water and the camaraderie ashore.

As the regatta progresses, the forecast for the upcoming days indicates very light breeze from the north-east, setting the stage for more exciting races and friendly rivalries among the superyacht community. With stunning scenery, challenging courses, and a festive atmosphere, the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta continues to captivate participants and spectators alike, showcasing the best of luxury sailing in the Mediterranean.

Stay tuned for more updates and highlights from this prestigious event as the world’s most impressive superyachts compete for glory on the crystal-clear waters of Sardinia.
