GKB Combiseeder Simplifies Overseeding Operations at Letchworth Golf Club

The golf course at the parkland has seen a significant increase in the need for routine and recovery seeding due to high traffic, poor weather, and ongoing construction projects. Course Manager Rob Groves has taken steps to address this issue by investing in a new seeder, the CS120 from the GKB Combiseeder range.

Rob, who took over as Course Manager in May 2022, explains that the previous practice of hiring a seeder was not only expensive but also limited their ability to seed at the right time. With the new seeder, they can now overseed the greens and other areas around the course as frequently and intensively as needed.

The CS120 features two spiked rollers and two adjustable brushes, which deliver and encase the seed for optimal germination. Rob is impressed with how simple it is to operate and adjust, allowing them to overseed the greens with finer, smaller seed and use it on other areas like the grass-covered driving tees.

The investment in the new seeder has already shown positive results, with good strike from their operations in March despite the challenging weather conditions. Rob is confident that the savings on hire and labor, combined with the ability to conduct overseeding more frequently, will quickly pay off the investment.
