Gladstone Freshman Cooper Sanville Leads Braves to Double Victory

In a stunning display of skill and determination, Gladstone freshman Cooper Sanville propelled the Braves baseball team to victory in a doubleheader against Manistique. Sanville’s three-hit performance was instrumental in the Braves’ 7-1 and 10-0 wins on Wednesday at Don Olsen Field.

Head coach Tyler Swanson praised the team’s overall performance, highlighting the solid defense and clutch hitting that secured the victories. Senior John Soderman set the tone on the mound with a dominant pitching display, striking out the side in the first inning.

The Braves wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with junior Casey Alworden and Isaac Ketchum delivering key hits to give Gladstone an early lead. Despite some promising hits from Manistique, the Emeralds struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving runners stranded on base.

As the game progressed, the Braves continued to extend their lead, with players like Rex Kelley and Trevor Thorbahn contributing offensively and defensively. Sanville’s standout performance included a lead-off triple and a crucial double that helped seal the victory for Gladstone.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Braves maintained their momentum, with Sanville and Nate Young delivering key hits to secure an early lead. Young’s stellar performance at the plate, along with strong pitching from Gavin Frossard and Casey Alworden, ensured another decisive victory for Gladstone.

With these back-to-back wins, the Braves are poised for success as they prepare for their upcoming doubleheader against Calumet. The team’s depth and talent were on full display, showcasing the bright future ahead for Gladstone baseball.
