The Gladstone Braves had a rollercoaster of a day on Thursday, facing off against the Iron Mountain Mountaineers in a doubleheader that showcased the highs and lows of baseball.

In the first game, the Mountaineers took the lead with a two-run single in the fourth inning, ultimately securing a 3-1 victory over the Braves. Despite a late-game rally that loaded the bases in the sixth inning, the Braves were unable to capitalize and fell short. Pitcher Trevor Thorbahn put up a solid effort, allowing three runs off six hits in five innings of work.

However, the Braves quickly turned things around in the second game, coming back from an early 4-1 deficit to dominate the Mountaineers with a final score of 17-6. Standout performances from players like Cooper Sanville, who finished with a double, five RBI, and a stolen base, and John Soderman, who went 2-for-2 with four RBI and three runs scored, propelled the Braves to victory.

Pitcher Sanville also shined on the mound, allowing five runs off three hits with four walks and three strikeouts. The Braves showcased their resilience and offensive prowess in the second game, securing a decisive win.

With this split doubleheader, the Braves now look ahead to their next challenge as they prepare to face Bark River-Harris on Saturday at 1 p.m. Despite the ups and downs of the day, the Braves demonstrated their determination and ability to bounce back, leaving fans eager to see what they will accomplish next on the field.
