Gladstone Boys Dominate Delta County Invitational Track Meet
The Gladstone boys’ track and field team continued their dominance at the Delta County Invitational meet held at Bark River-Harris High School on Thursday. The Braves scored an impressive 221 points, leaving their competitors in the dust.
Gladstone’s strong performance was evident throughout the meet, with the team securing top finishes in multiple events. Senior Nate Young took first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.72 seconds, while his teammate Eli Berthaume claimed victory in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.58 seconds.
The Braves showcased their depth and talent by grabbing the top four spots in the 200-meter dash and placing four athletes in the top five in the 100-meter dash. Senior Luke Bracket also had a standout performance, sweeping the hurdle races by winning both the 110-meter hurdles (15.77) and the 300-meter hurdles (42.71).
Gladstone senior Josh Racine dominated the weight events, winning both the shot put (40-10) and discus (116-1). Other notable performances included sophomore Mason Peltin’s first-place finish in high jump (6-0) and junior Evan Woelffer’s victory in the long jump (18-3.5).
Bark River-Harris also had a strong showing, setting a school record in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 9:11.28. Junior Wes Knauf secured a first-place finish in the 3200-meter race with a time of 11:18.28, while freshman Ben Knauf won the 1600-meter race in 5:01.27.
Overall, the meet was a showcase of talent and determination from all participating teams. The athletes displayed impressive skills and sportsmanship, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
