The Glendale Education Foundation board members are gearing up for a busy season with exciting projects and events on the horizon. One of the highlights discussed at their recent meeting was author Jenna Rice’s visit to Glendale Elementary School. Rice, known for her books based on her experiences with her Old English bulldog Hank, spoke to students in kindergarten, first, and second grades about her latest book, “Hank and The Baby.”

The students were thrilled to receive a copy of Rice’s sequel book, courtesy of a private donation to the foundation. In addition to Rice’s visit, the foundation is also planning the annual golf outing at Sinking Valley Country Club on June 14.

Furthermore, the foundation is organizing the Glendale One Book Program, featuring the book “Bad Apple, A Tale of Friendship.” Students in kindergarten and first grade will participate in apple-themed activities and enjoy an applesauce snack treat while listening to the story.

The foundation is also exploring fundraising opportunities for a book vending machine to be placed in the elementary school, enhancing literacy programs for the students. Additionally, the scholarship committee is offering multiple scholarship opportunities for Glendale seniors, with deadlines approaching soon.

During the meeting, the board also welcomed new members and elected officers to fill vacancies, with Kelsey McManus taking on the role of president and Kelsey Henry as vice president. The board has adjusted its meeting schedule to allow for more planning time, with the next meeting scheduled for April 29 at Josie’s Restaurant.
