The UK Golf Federation is gearing up for its upcoming GolfBIC Roadshow events in April and May 2024, with a strong emphasis on promoting sustainable practices within the golfing industry. These one-day roadshows will be held in key locations across the UK, including Hounslow, Cambridge, and Glasgow, to ensure accessibility for industry professionals and members.
The main goal of the GolfBIC events is to raise awareness about sustainable turf management, renewable energy integration, waste management, water conservation, and more. By showcasing eco-friendly technologies and promoting environmentally responsible practices, golf courses can work towards achieving carbon neutrality or even a carbon-negative status.
Participants at the roadshows will have the opportunity to attend presentations and seminars led by industry experts, as well as interact with exhibitors from sustainable golf equipment manufacturers and environmental organizations. The events aim to provide a platform for networking, idea exchange, and learning from each other’s experiences to collectively reduce the environmental impact of golf courses.
Richard Haygarth, Chairman of the UK Golf Federation, emphasized the importance of attending these roadshows to understand and implement sustainable practices in golf facilities. The partnership between the R&A Sustainability Team and GEO will provide valuable guidance to stakeholders and encourage positive change within the industry.
