Reading Time: < 1 minute

Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced at the Tuesday I/O event that Google is entering its Gemini era, showcasing the advancements in the tech giant’s AI capabilities. The Gemini AI model, released in December, is Google’s largest AI model that can reason across text, code, audio, video, and image.

Pichai revealed that over 1.5 million developers have utilized the Gemini AI model, which has been integrated into all of Google’s two billion user products. The company is at the forefront of the AI platform shift, as evidenced by the introduction of new AI products and the infusion of AI into existing services like Google Search.

Google unveiled Project Astra, a new AI assistant that rivals OpenAI’s GPT-4o, offering users a seamless experience across audio, visual, and written cues. The AI assistant can quickly respond to user queries, enhancing the interaction between users and technology.

Additionally, Google introduced Imagen 3, a new AI image generator, Veo, an AI video generator, and a music AI sandbox developed in collaboration with YouTube artists. The company also launched Gemini 1.5 Flash, a faster version of its previous AI models, capable of generating images and responses more efficiently.

Furthermore, Google is rolling out AI-written search summaries to all U.S. users, with plans to expand this feature to over a billion people by the end of the year. The company continues to innovate in AI, with upcoming features in Google Search including video capabilities and multi-step reasoning.

Overall, Google’s advancements in AI technology demonstrate its commitment to enhancing user experiences and staying at the forefront of innovation in the tech industry.
