Republican Senator Thom Tillis made headlines this week after a leaked audio recording revealed him calling Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene a “waste of time”, a bad leader, and a threat to the future of the GOP. The recording was played by CNN’s Erin Burnett during her show on Tuesday.

In the recording, Senator Tillis expressed his frustration with Greene, stating, “I think she’s uninformed, she is a total waste of time. She is a horrible leader. She is dragging our brand down. She – not the Democrats – [is] the biggest risk to us getting back to a majority.”

Greene has been a controversial figure within the Republican Party, particularly for her crusade against House Speaker Mike Johnson. This comes after Congressman Matt Gaetz led a campaign to remove Kevin McCarthy as speaker, causing division and chaos within the GOP.

Despite criticism from within her own party, Greene remains defiant. She has clashed with Johnson over government shutdowns and foreign aid bills, accusing him of betraying the Republican conference and the country.

Even former President Donald Trump’s allies are reportedly growing impatient with Greene’s actions. However, she remains undeterred, stating that the speakership could be a “revolving door” if necessary.

As tensions within the GOP continue to rise, Greene’s confrontational approach has sparked debate among Republicans. While some, like Senator Tillis, openly criticize her, others, like GOP Congressman Marc Molinaro, believe her political theatrics must come to an end.

As the party grapples with internal divisions, Greene’s unapologetic stance and willingness to challenge the status quo could further shake up the Republican establishment.
