Gospel singer Gabe Patillo succumbs to cancer

Gabe Patillo, a Christian performer associated with artist TobyMac, passed away on April 12, 2024, after battling cancer. The Gospel Music Association confirmed his death on Instagram, highlighting his significant contributions to the Christian music industry.

Patillo, the son of GMA President Jackie Patillo, was known for his work with the Christian band DC Talk and his collaborations with TobyMac as part of Diverse City. He was a background vocalist, choreographer, dancer, and co-producer for TobyMac tours. Patillo is survived by his wife, Jenni, and their three children.

TobyMac took to Facebook to express his grief over Patillo’s passing, stating, “Today Gabe met Jesus! While we are crushed, [he] is healed.” He promised to watch over Patillo’s family and praised his legacy, vowing to never forget him.

In a heartfelt tribute, TobyMac described Patillo as a talented performer and a loving husband and father. He emphasized the impact Patillo had on those around him, noting his ability to inspire others and engage in meaningful conversations about important issues.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the Patillo family with their financial needs in the wake of Gabe’s passing. The fundraiser has already raised over $150,000 towards its $250,000 goal.
