Grandmother of 12, 58, sets new world planking record by holding position for over 4.5 hours

DonnaJean Wilde, a 58-year-old grandmother from Canada, has made headlines by breaking the world record for the longest plank ever held by a woman. Guinness World Records confirmed that Wilde held the abdominal plank position for an impressive 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds, surpassing the previous record set in 2019 by 10 minutes.

Wilde, a retired mother of five and grandmother of 12, completed the record-breaking feat at the high school where she once served as vice principal. She described the first two hours as relatively easy, but admitted to struggling towards the end. Despite the physical challenges, Wilde managed to stay focused by breathing, staying calm, and maintaining her form.

Preparing for the record attempt involved daily planking sessions of up to three hours, during which Wilde would watch movies and study for her master’s degree. She credits her ability to persevere through the pain to her experience with chronic pain in her hands and arms due to a condition called transverse myelitis.
