Grant Funds Available for Rural Business Owners to Cover Energy Efficient Upgrades

Small businesses across the country have a plethora of grant opportunities available to them, but navigating through the options can be overwhelming. Here is a roundup of some of the most promising grants and funding programs currently open for applications.

In Maine and other Northeast states, the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) is offering grants and loans to small farms and rural businesses interested in utilizing clean energy sources like wind and solar. The next application deadline for this program is July 1, 2024.

Michigan businesses can benefit from the Going PRO Talent Fund, which provides funds for training and development of employees. With $11 million available, eligible businesses can apply for various training programs until the deadline on May 10.

In Kansas City, Missouri, the Small Business Capital Program is providing startup capital, low-interest loans, grants, and financial assistance to local entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses. The next application round for this program runs from May 13 to June 14.

Ohio businesses affected by a recent tornado can apply for the Tornado Relief Emergency Fund Small Business Grants, with the second funding round now open. Businesses must demonstrate physical damage or operational losses to qualify for these grants.

For small businesses in New Jersey, an informational session on small business grants will be held on May 1 at the Madison Community Arts Center. The session will cover NJEDA Small Business grant programs and other support programs available to business owners.

Lastly, Cal State Bakersfield is hosting a webinar on federal research and development grant programs for small businesses, providing insights on popular funding opportunities and eligibility requirements. Participants will also have the chance to ask direct questions to industry experts.
