Reading Time: < 1 minute

Greek travel agencies were recently introduced to the tourism offerings of South Korea during the “Korea Tourism Roadshow in Greece” event in Athens. Organized by the Greek Travel Pages (GTP) in cooperation with the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO), the event aimed to promote Korea as a holiday destination in the Greek market.

Korean tour operators showcased Korea’s diverse tourism products, including leisure, wellness, health, cultural, and beauty trips. Cho HyunCho, KTO Balkan Director, emphasized the potential for strengthening bilateral tourism relations between Greece and Korea, as well as creating new opportunities for Greek travel agencies.

Data presented at the event revealed a positive trend in Greek arrivals to Korea. In 2019, 9,956 Greek travelers visited South Korea, with a significant recovery of 80.4% by 2023 following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The first quarter of 2024 saw a 41.9% increase in Greek visitors compared to the same period in 2023.

Apart from Greece, South Korea’s main tourism markets include the US, Singapore, Australia, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. The country’s tourism offerings were highlighted during the roadshow, showcasing its technologically advanced lifestyle, age-old traditions, unique architecture, historical treasures, gastronomy, K-Pop culture, and top-notch health and beauty services.

The KTO’s “Visit Korea Year 2023-2024” initiative aims to attract international visitors through various events, campaigns, and travel packages centered around K-Culture. With a focus on promoting Korea’s cultural and travel attractions, the initiative seeks to boost tourism and showcase the country’s rich heritage to a global audience.
