Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is not backing down in her feud with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), accusing him of prioritizing Democrats over public safety in a recent spending deal. Greene has been vocal about her opposition to the funding package that excluded tougher border security measures, and she is now ramping up pressure on Johnson as they head into a contentious debate over military funding for Ukraine.

In a series of tweets, Greene criticized Johnson for his handling of border security and accused him of surrendering power to Democrats. She warned that if Johnson continues to support funding for Ukraine after fully funding Biden’s border policies, the American people will suffer the consequences.

Johnson, on the other hand, defended his negotiations with Democrats as a necessary part of governing in a divided Washington. He acknowledged Greene’s frustrations but emphasized the need for unity within the Republican party to secure victories in upcoming elections.

Despite their differences, Johnson and Greene are set to meet in person to discuss their disagreements when Congress reconvenes. Greene has previously introduced a resolution to remove Johnson from power, but has not yet forced a vote on the matter.

As tensions continue to rise between the two Republicans, the outcome of the Ukraine funding debate remains uncertain. Johnson has proposed a more conservative House version of the aid package, which may face opposition from Democrats in both chambers.

With high-stakes elections on the horizon, Johnson warned that internal conflicts within the Republican party will only benefit Democrats. He stressed the importance of unity in order to achieve their mission of saving the republic.
