Warren’s Boys Tennis Team Falls to Greenville in Region 1 Match

In a closely contested Region 1 boys tennis match on Monday, Warren High School’s team faced off against Greenville at Betts Park. Despite their best efforts, Warren ultimately fell to Greenville with a final score of 3-2.

According to Warren coach Thomas Pellegrino, Greenville came into the match with a sense of urgency after losing to Hickory the previous Friday. Pellegrino noted, “We knew they would leave it all on the court and it showed as they outmatched us on the singles courts today.”

The singles matches proved to be challenging for Warren, with Abe Wolf, Adam Strandburg, and Carson Moore all falling to their Greenville opponents. However, the highlight of the day came from the performance of Warren’s doubles teams. Jack Lynds and Lucas Thrift secured a victory at first doubles, while Brody Alexander and Ben Scott emerged victorious at second doubles.

Despite the loss, Warren still has a chance to compete for first place in the region standings. With a record of 6-2 overall and 5-1 in region play, Warren will face off against Hickory on Thursday at Betts Park. A win in this upcoming match could potentially lead to a three-way tie between Warren, Greenville, and Hickory for first place in the region.

Warren fans can catch the team back in action today as they host McDowell at Betts Park. Stay tuned for more updates on Warren’s quest for a top spot in the region standings.
