The Cleveland Guardians continued their hot start on the road with a 4-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. José Ramirez and Gabriel Arias each contributed an RBI double to help secure the win.

The Guardians’ starting pitcher, Xzavion Curry, made his season debut after recovering from a viral illness that had him on the injured list. Curry was dominant, holding the Red Sox to just two singles over five innings. The 25-year-old righty looked sharp after a challenging recovery process that saw him lose 15 pounds while isolated in the team’s hotel during spring training.

Boston struggled to get their offense going, managing only three hits in the game. Red Sox left fielder Tyler O’Neill had to leave the game in the eighth inning after colliding with third baseman Rafael Devers while chasing a pop-up.

The game was played on Patriots’ Day at Fenway Park, a tradition that dates back to 1959 and coincides with the running of the Boston Marathon. Former New England Patriots player Rob Gronkowski threw out the ceremonial first pitch to the delight of the crowd.

With the win, the Guardians improved to 8-2 on the road, while the Red Sox will look to bounce back in the second game of the four-game series. RHP Tanner Bibee will take the mound for Cleveland, looking to rebound from a rough outing, while RHP Garrett Whitlock is set to start for Boston, boasting an impressive 1.26 ERA in his three starts.
