Reading Time: < 1 minute

A man in Guelph was punched in the face after criticizing another man’s behavior, according to Guelph police. The incident took place at a business on Clair Road East at Gordon Street on April 14 around 1 a.m.

The victim had been having drinks with a couple he did not know a few hours earlier at an establishment. They then moved to another establishment where they continued to drink. As they were leaving the second business, the victim told the other man that he was being rude to the staff. In response, the man threw a punch at the victim.

Both the assailant and his female companion fled the scene in a white Ford F-150 heading east on Clair Road East. Police are now looking to speak to a man captured on security video in the area of the incident. He is described as having a short, stocky build with a large dark beard and dark hair, wearing a dark shirt.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Guelph Police Service at 519-824-1212 ext. 7452 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully and the potential consequences of resorting to violence in public spaces. The police are actively investigating the matter to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
