Rugby High School student Brooklyn Hager has overcome a devastating knee injury to become a finalist for the North Dakota High School Activities Association Distinguished Student Award. Hager, a multi-sport athlete, suffered a serious knee injury during a softball game, which required multiple surgeries and a lengthy recovery process.

Despite the challenges she faced, Hager continued to show up for her teammates and practices, displaying resilience and dedication. Her perseverance did not go unnoticed, as her principal, Jared Blikre, nominated her for the prestigious award. Hager’s academic excellence and commitment to her sports teams impressed Blikre, who believes she has a bright future ahead of her.

She plans to study speech and language pathology after graduation and is considering attending Minot State University.
