Renowned Haitian American musician Lucky Pierre has taken a stand to support his homeland by composing and recording a powerful song titled “Kanal La Pap Kanpe,” along with a captivating music video, to raise awareness and funds for the construction of much-needed canals for irrigation in Haiti.

With over 11 million people struggling with food insecurity in Haiti, the inadequate irrigation infrastructure has been identified as a major contributing factor to the crisis. In response, farmers in Nord Est Haiti have defied political and economic pressures to initiate the construction of a canal along the River Massacre.

The music video premiered on May 1, 2024, on various platforms, coinciding with Labor Day in Haiti and Haitian American Heritage Month in the United States. Lucky Pierre aims to rally the community to download the song and raise $100,000 towards the canal’s construction.

The canal project is designed to irrigate and cultivate lands, promoting self-sustainability and economic empowerment within local communities. The grassroots movement, “Kanal La Pap Kampe” (KPK), has inspired Haitians worldwide to join forces and contribute to this noble cause.

Speaking at a press launch event in Miramar, Florida, Lucky Pierre expressed his excitement about the project, highlighting the resilience and unity of the Haitian people. The music video not only raises funds but also symbolizes the unwavering determination of the Haitian people to overcome adversity.

Rhonda Eyes Alliance (REA), a nonprofit organization based in Florida, has been endorsed by President Moise Joseph of the KPK Committee to receive funds in support of the canal construction. The organization provides eyecare for underserved communities in Haiti, the Caribbean, and South Florida.
