Halle Bailey Opens Up About Severe Postpartum Depression After Welcoming Baby Boy

Halle Bailey, the talented star of “The Little Mermaid,” recently shared a candid video on Snapchat discussing her struggles with severe postpartum depression following the birth of her baby boy, Halo. The 24-year-old actress, who shares her son with boyfriend DDG, opened up about the challenges she has been facing in a heartfelt message to her followers.

In the video, Halle revealed, “I have severe, severe postpartum [depression], and it’s hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out.” She expressed how difficult it has been to feel normal in her own body and described the experience as feeling like she is in a whole new body, struggling to recognize herself.

Despite the intense emotional and mental toll of postpartum depression, Halle emphasized that her struggles have nothing to do with her baby but are a personal battle she is facing. She also addressed hurtful comments she has received online, urging people to be more compassionate and understanding, especially towards new mothers.

Halle’s openness about her postpartum depression comes after she announced the birth of her son in January and chose to keep her pregnancy private until she was ready to share the news. In a powerful speech at Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood Awards, she explained her decision to protect her son from the public eye and prioritize his well-being above all else.

As Halle continues to navigate the challenges of motherhood and mental health, her honesty and vulnerability serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting and uplifting new mothers during their postpartum journey.
