Hamdan bin Mohammed introduces the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence in the UAE

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, recently launched the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, a groundbreaking yearly plan aimed at harnessing the potential of technology to enhance the quality of life for its citizens and residents.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that the plan embodies Sheikh Mohammed’s vision to enhance Dubai’s leadership as a global technology and innovation hub, paving the way for a brighter future in all sectors.

Highlighting the significance of the plan, Sheikh Hamdan stated, “In recent years, the evolution of artificial intelligence has accelerated, presenting numerous opportunities for nations and governments adept at utilizing it, while posing challenges to those unable to keep pace. This has necessitated swift and adaptive action plans responsive to rapid changes in technology and artificial intelligence.”

The Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence aims to achieve the targets of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 by contributing AED100 billion annually to Dubai’s economy through the digital economy and increasing the economy’s productivity by 50% through the adoption of innovative digital solutions. The first phase of the plan includes appointing a Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer in every government entity in Dubai, launching AI and Web3 incubators, and introducing an AI Week in educational institutions.

Furthermore, the plan involves fast-tracking land allocation for data centers, introducing a new commercial license for artificial intelligence, and focusing on ensuring the well-being of Dubai’s citizens and residents. Sheikh Hamdan reiterated the commitment to annually review, update, and launch new projects to ensure that the plan keeps pace with all developments, emphasizing Dubai’s focus on humanity and happiness.

Dubai’s leadership in attracting foreign direct investment in AI as a percentage of GDP, as well as its readiness for adopting AI applications, positions the city as a global frontrunner in the technology sector. The annual plan for accelerating the adoption of AI applications aims to make Dubai the most prepared city for radical transformations across vital sectors, enhance employee productivity, improve government performance, and deliver superior government services leveraging future technologies.

With a strong focus on AI governance and legislation, the plan aims to position Dubai as a global hub for AI governance and legislation, attracting innovators and leading technology companies while developing regulations and laws for AI utilization across sectors. The plan also seeks to empower government teams with essential AI skills and tools to create innovative applications and solutions aligned with future market needs.
