Hannah Green Secures Back-to-Back Victory at LPGA Tour’s JM Eagle LA Championship
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Australian golfer Hannah Green clinched her second consecutive victory at the LPGA Tour’s JM Eagle LA Championship on Sunday, showcasing her skills with two impressive hole-outs from off the greens during a crucial back-nine stretch at the challenging Wilshire Country Club.
Green, who won with the help of Maja Stark, secured her fifth LPGA Tour victory and second of the year with a final round score of 5-under 66, finishing at 12-under 272 overall. The 27-year-old golfer expressed her nerves leading up to the win, stating, “I’ve never been able to win having a lead into the last hole like that, so it is nice to be able to get it done earlier in the round.”
The key moment in Green’s victory came with a chip-in birdie on the par-3 12th hole, followed by a 6-foot birdie putt on the par-5 13th. She then sealed the deal with a remarkable 25-foot eagle putt on the 15th hole, opening up a four-stroke lead over her competitors.
Stark, who finished second, rebounded from a bogey on the 16th hole to birdie the final two holes, finishing with a score of 68. The Swedish golfer expressed pride in her performance, stating, “I feel like I’ve hit a lot of good shots and I feel like my nerves kind of took over for a little while, but I was always able to get back to my normal state of mind.”
Green’s impressive victory at the JM Eagle LA Championship solidifies her status as a top contender on the LPGA Tour, showcasing her talent and determination on the course.
