Hardik Pandya and Mumbai Indians team penalized for violating Code of Conduct against LSG – Firstpost

The Mumbai Indians team, led by captain Hardik Pandya, faced a hefty fine from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after being found guilty of maintaining a slow over rate for the second time in IPL 2024. The incident occurred during their match against Lucknow Super Giants, which they ultimately lost by four wickets.

In a statement released by the BCCI, it was revealed that Pandya was fined Rs 24 lakh for his team’s slow over rate during Match 48 of the TATA Indian Premier League. Additionally, the other players from the playing XI and the impact player, Nuwan Thushara, were fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever is lesser.

This was not the first time Mumbai Indians had been penalized for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences. They were previously found guilty on 18 April during a match against Punjab Kings, which they won by 18 runs.

During the match against Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians batted first but could only manage to score 144/7. Lucknow successfully chased down the target with four balls to spare, with Marcus Stoinis playing a crucial innings of 62 off 45 balls. Pandya took two wickets for Mumbai, but it was not enough to secure a victory.

The fines imposed by the BCCI serve as a reminder to all teams to adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the IPL, ensuring fair play and timely completion of matches.
