Hart Resigns as Head Coach of Cameron | Latest News on Sports and Employment

After eight successful seasons as the head men’s basketball coach at Cameron High School, Tom Hart has announced his decision to step down. Hart, who never coached a losing season and won over 100 games with the Dragons, leaves behind a legacy of excellence on the court.

During his tenure, Hart’s teams compiled an impressive record of 128 wins against just 64 losses, averaging 16 wins per season. Under his leadership, the Dragons advanced to the regional finals seven times, winning their only regional championships in school history for four consecutive seasons. They also captured their only two OVAC Class A titles and finished ranked in the Class A AP Top 10 in six of the past 7 seasons.

Hart’s coaching career spanned 30 years, including three seasons as the girls head basketball coach from 2000 to 2002. His overall head coaching record stands at 162-97, with a total of 388 wins as an assistant and head coach with both boys and girls teams.

Reflecting on his decision to step down, Hart expressed gratitude for the relationships he built with players, coaches, and officials over the years. He emphasized the importance of being a positive influence in his players’ lives and hoped they would carry valuable lessons with them beyond the basketball court.

As Hart passes the torch to the next generation of Dragons, the team looks ahead to the 2024-2025 season with a strong roster of returning players. While his coaching career may be coming to a close, Hart’s impact on the Cameron High School basketball program will be felt for years to come.
