Hasher bin Maktoum launches DIHAD 2024 in the UAE

The 20th Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD 2024) kicked off with a grand inauguration ceremony under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The event, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 23 to 25 April, brought together key decision-makers from leading NGOs, UN Agencies, charity organizations, and government bodies, along with private sector providers in aid, education, and construction.

The theme of this year’s DIHAD is ‘Humanitarian Diplomacy and a Journey to the Future’, emphasizing the importance of progressive humanitarianism and diplomacy in shaping an inclusive and sustainable future. His Excellency Amb. Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani highlighted the focus on anticipating future humanitarian needs and developing a sustainability strategy to guide efforts in affected areas.

The opening ceremony featured speeches by prominent figures such as His Excellency Nawal Al-Hosany and His Excellency Rashed Mubarak Almansoori, who emphasized the commitment to enhancing mutual understanding and collaboration in the humanitarian sector. The event also honored individuals for their exceptional humanitarian work, with awards presented to His Excellency Antonio Guterres and Jan Egeland.

With over 16,000 participants and visitors from 154 countries expected to attend DIHAD 2024, the event serves as a platform for engagement and collaboration among assistance providers, corporate stakeholders, and governmental bodies. The program includes 24 main sessions and 144 workshops covering vital topics in humanitarian diplomacy, providing training and exploring innovative solutions in the field.

DIHAD 2024, organized by INDEX Conference and Exhibitions Org. LLC, is supported by various entities including the United Nations, Dubai Future Council on Humanitarian Aid, and the UAE Red Crescent Authority. The event aims to foster impactful collaborations and initiatives to aid those in need, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian efforts and global cooperation.
