Fredonia senior pitcher Jordan Lucas had a standout season on the mound, earning the title of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West Pitcher of the Year. Lucas dominated her competition, allowing just nine hits in 57 innings pitched, while striking out an impressive 120 batters with a minuscule 0.14 earned run average. Her stellar performance helped Fredonia secure the league title with a perfect 10-0 record.
In addition to her pitching prowess, Lucas also excelled at the plate, hitting .353 with four doubles, a home run, and contributing to seven walks and eight runs scored in the league. Olean sophomore catcher Anna Bates was named the league’s Player of the Year, boasting an impressive .546 batting average with six doubles, four triples, a home run, and 21 RBIs for the Huskies.
Fredonia’s success extended beyond Lucas, with three First-Team selections in Jaelyn Davis, Danielle Palisin, and Naomi Muck. Davis, Palisin, and Muck all made significant contributions both on the mound and at the plate, showcasing the depth and talent of the Hillbillies’ roster.
Other standout players from the league included Hannah Melquist, Emily Rhinehart, and Katrina Schrantz from Falconer, as well as Emma Edwards and Alaina Hirliman from Olean. Allegany-Limestone’s Kaelyn Arnold was named Coach of the Year, with players Kailey Truman and Taylor Foster earning First-Team honors for their exceptional performances throughout the season.
Overall, the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West showcased some of the top talent in high school softball, with players like Jordan Lucas leading the way with their outstanding skills and dedication to the game.
