Fitness leaders from across the country are gearing up for the Health & Fitness Association’s annual Fly-In and Advocacy Summit on May 7-8 in Washington, D.C. The event aims to highlight the importance of the health and fitness industry to the nation’s overall health and economy.

During the two-day summit, industry leaders will present crucial economic impact data showcasing the significant contributions of the health and fitness sector to the U.S. economy. The focus will be on educating lawmakers about the mental and physical health benefits of physical activity and building stronger relationships with members of Congress.

Liz Clark, president and CEO of the Health & Fitness Association, emphasized the importance of making the industry’s voice heard on Capitol Hill. The summit provides a platform for industry leaders to advocate for policies that support the growth and vitality of the sector.

Attendees will also work towards advancing support for key legislation, such as the PHIT Act, which aims to expand HSA/FSA eligibility for physical activity expenses. Additionally, they will seek national liability protections related to the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

Sponsored by industry leaders like ABC Fitness and Technogym, the summit is open to Health & Fitness Association members for free and costs $299 for non-members. The event promises to be a crucial opportunity for industry leaders to advocate for policies that promote preventive health benefits, equitable access, and economic prosperity.
