Time magazine has just released its highly anticipated list of the 100 most influential individuals in the world of health, known as “Time 100 Health.” The list includes a diverse group of individuals categorized as Innovators, Titans, Pioneers, Leaders, and Catalysts, all making significant contributions to the field of health.

One standout figure on the list is Dr. Hadiza Shehu Galadanci, an OB/GYN and professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Nigeria’s Bayero University. Dr. Galadanci has been recognized for her work in reducing maternal mortality rates in Nigeria, a country with one of the highest rates of maternal deaths in the world. Through her innovative system for preventing fatal postpartum hemorrhages, Dr. Galadanci is changing the standard of medical practice and saving lives.

Another honoree is Mike Curtis, President and CEO of eGenesis, who is using CRISPR technology to edit pig genes for safer organ transplants. The first patient to receive a pig kidney is doing well, offering hope for those in need of life-saving transplants.

Notably, not all individuals on the list have medical backgrounds. Actress Olivia Munn shared her breast cancer diagnosis story, raising awareness and encouraging others to prioritize their health. Similarly, Michael J. Fox, known for his acting career, has become a leading advocate for Parkinson’s Disease research, founding the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

While the Time 100 Health list celebrates these influential figures, it also serves as a reminder of the countless individuals making a difference in the world of health every day. Whether through medical innovation, advocacy, or personal health journeys, each person has the power to impact the health and well-being of themselves and others.
