Heather Hardy admits that her career may be coming to an end due to excessive brain damage

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Heather Hardy, a veteran combat sports athlete, has announced that she is stepping back from fighting due to repeated concussions and brain damage. The 42-year-old was set to compete in a bare-knuckle fight against BKFC champion Christine Ferea, but had to withdraw from the bout just days before the event.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Hardy revealed the extent of her health issues, stating that after her fight with Amanda Serrano last summer, she experienced blurred vision and was diagnosed with the aftereffects of a concussion. Despite hoping to recover in six to eight months, her condition worsened during training for the fight with Ferea, leading to extreme weakness and vision problems.

Although Hardy did not explicitly use the word “retirement,” she made it clear that her fighting career may be over due to the risk of further brain damage. With an impressive record of 24-3 in boxing, 2-2 in MMA, and experience in kickboxing and Muay Thai, Hardy leaves behind a legacy of success in the combat sports world.

Her decision to prioritize her health and well-being serves as a reminder of the physical toll that combat sports can take on athletes, even those as dedicated and determined as Heather Hardy. As she navigates this new chapter in her life, fans and fellow fighters alike are sending their support and well wishes to the courageous athlete.
