The 2024 Tony Awards nominations have been announced, with Alicia Keys’ musical Hell’s Kitchen and Stereophonic leading the pack with 13 nominations each. The Outsiders, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, and Appropriate also received multiple nods, showcasing the diverse range of talent in American theatre.

One standout production is Suffs, produced by former first lady Hillary Clinton, which chronicles the fight for women’s voting rights. Clinton expressed her excitement on Twitter, congratulating the show on its nominations and highlighting the importance of the story it tells.

The awards ceremony, set to take place on June 16, will mark the 77th anniversary of the prestigious event honoring Broadway talent. Danya Taymor, nominated for best direction of a musical for The Outsiders, praised the source material for its raw portrayal of teenage life in America.

Another notable nominee is Camille A. Brown, who could become the first Black woman to win a Tony for best choreography for her work on Hell’s Kitchen. Brown expressed her gratitude for the recognition and the opportunity to create movement to Alicia Keys’ music.

The event will be hosted by actress Ariana DeBose and will air on CBS and Paramount+. With a star-studded lineup of nominees in various categories, the 2024 Tony Awards promise to be a celebration of the best of Broadway talent.
