Henrico Sports & Events Center Extends Partnership with Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship Through 2026

The Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship will continue to be held at the Henrico Sports & Events Center in Henrico, Va. The decision was made by the league’s athletic directors during the Annual Spring Meetings, extending the partnership through 2026.

Bernadette V. McGlade, the commissioner of the A-10, expressed her excitement about the continued partnership, citing the record crowds and thrilling finishes of the 2024 Championship. The upcoming 2026 event will coincide with the A-10’s 50th Anniversary, making it a marquee event for the conference.

The Henrico Sports & Events Center, which opened in 2023, has proven to be a successful venue for the Championship. The 2024 event saw over 16,000 attendees over five days, with an estimated economic impact of over $1.3 million in the Greater Richmond Area.

Dennis Bickmeier, Executive Director of the Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority, expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the Championship through 2026, highlighting the exceptional experience provided for student-athletes, coaches, and fans.

The A-10 Women’s Basketball Championship has a history of producing different champions, with national television and streaming coverage for all five rounds. The upcoming season will see the Quarterfinals aired on NBC / USA Network for the first time.
