Hezbollah claims to have launched drones and guided missiles towards Israel

Hezbollah, the Iran-backed movement in Lebanon, has launched a series of attacks on Israel in retaliation for Israeli strikes that killed three people, including two Hezbollah members. The group targeted northern Israel with drones and guided missiles, hitting the Al Manara military command headquarters and a gathering of forces from the Golani Brigade.

In response, the Israeli army successfully intercepted a suspicious aerial target that crossed from Lebanon into northern Israel using its Iron Dome air-defense system. The army also struck the sources of fire of several anti-tank missiles launched from Lebanon into the Manara border area.

The escalating tensions between Lebanon and Israel have resulted in near-daily exchanges of fire since the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza began nearly seven months ago. Hezbollah mourned the deaths of two fighters from Kfar Kila and Khiam, stating they were “martyred on the road to Jerusalem” in reference to members killed by Israeli fire.

Hezbollah further retaliated by launching dozens of rockets at the Israeli military base at Meron in northern Israel. This was in response to Israeli attacks on civilian homes in southern Lebanon. The group has intensified its targeting of military sites in Israel since tensions rose between Israel and Iran over the bombing of Tehran’s Damascus consulate on April 1, which was widely blamed on Israel.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue to exchange fire, raising concerns about further escalation in the region.
