As the spring sports season comes to a close, boys tennis teams across Minnesota are gearing up for the final stretch of the regular season. With section tournaments wrapping up by May 28, the state tournaments are set to begin on June 4 in Minneapolis.
In Class 1A singles, there has been a shakeup in the rankings as Mounds Park Academy sophomore Garrett Webb claimed the top spot, dethroning St. Paul Academy freshman Zahir Hassan who now sits at No. 3. Meanwhile, Wayzata in Class 2A and St. Paul Academy in Class 1A maintain their positions as the top-ranked teams.
According to the latest rankings by the Minnesota Boys Tennis Coaches Association, in Class 2A, Wayzata leads the pack followed by Rochester Mayo and Blake. Tej Bhagra of Rochester Mayo holds the top spot among Class 2A individuals. In Class 1A, St. Paul Academy leads the team rankings with Winona Cotter and Mounds Park Academy close behind. Garrett Webb of Mounds Park Academy is the top-ranked individual player in Class 1A.
