Highlighting Native CDFIs and Small Businesses Driving Economic Transformation in Native Communities: A New Podcast

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Native CDFI Network and Tribal Business News have joined forces to launch a groundbreaking podcast series, “Difference Makers 2.0,” shining a spotlight on the vital role of Native community development financial institutions (CDFIs) in driving economic growth and opportunity in Native communities.

With 69 Native CDFIs operating in 27 states across Indian Country, these organizations play a crucial role in providing access to capital and fostering economic development where traditional banks may be lacking.

Hosted by Elyse Wild, the podcast series will feature 20 episodes that take listeners on a journey to meet Native CDFI leaders and their small business clients who are making a difference in their communities.

The first episode highlights NACDC Financial Services Inc., a Montana-based Native CDFI, and their partnership with Big Sky Cafe in Cut Bank, Mont. The cafe owners, Gary and Sue Raccine, faced numerous rejections from banks before finding support from NACDC Financial Services.

“We went to NACDC again to talk to them about it. We didn’t talk long when they said, ‘We’re going to back you,'” Sue shared.

Today, the Big Sky Cafe stands as a thriving business and community hub, thanks to the unwavering support of NACDC Financial Services. Executive Director Angie Main emphasized the collaborative nature of their partnership, highlighting the mutual support and teamwork that drives their success.

“Difference Makers 2.0” is set to debut on May 9, offering listeners a glimpse into the impactful work of Native CDFIs and their small business clients. Tune in to the podcast and visit Tribal Business News for more inspiring stories of economic empowerment in Native communities.
