Students from the School for Command Preparation’s Chief of Staff of the Army’s Core Course (CSACC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, participated in a Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Day to assess their individual fitness and learn about the five readiness domains of the H2F program.

The future brigade and battalion leadership teams, along with their spouses, engaged in in-depth training on the physical, mental, nutritional, spiritual, and sleep readiness domains. Maj. Gen. John Kline, Commanding General for the U.S. Army Center for Initial Military Training, emphasized the importance of promoting the health of the force through the implementation of the H2F system.

The SCP, part of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, aims to prepare leaders for command challenges through courses like the Pre-Command Course and Command Sergeants Major Course. Col. Jim Pangelinan, the SCP Director, highlighted the significance of the CSA’s Core Course in educating leaders at the battalion and brigade levels.

Experts from all five readiness domains provided training to the future leaders, emphasizing the cultural shift towards H2F in the Army. The day included physical fitness workouts, briefings from domain experts like the Army Surgeon General and the Chief of Chaplains, and a “spiritual readiness dinner.”

Students expressed the importance of fully implementing the H2F program across the Army, with a focus on leadership setting the example and driving cultural change. The impact of H2F on injury prevention and human performance optimization was also discussed, highlighting the program’s role in enhancing soldier readiness.
