Hollywood Life Reveals Cause of Death for American Idol’s Mandisa

Late singer-songwriter Mandisa’s cause of death has been revealed, according to a new autopsy report released on Wednesday, June 5. The report states that Mandisa died from “complications of class III obesity.” She was found dead on April 18 in her home, and it was reported that she was last known alive approximately three weeks before her passing.

Class III obesity, formerly known as “morbid obesity,” is a chronic condition characterized by a body mass index of 40 or higher, or 35 or higher along with obesity-related health issues. This condition can lead to heart disease and other health complications but is manageable with proper care.

Mandisa’s family confirmed her death on April 19 in a statement to the media. They asked for prayers for the family and close friends during this difficult time.

The California native gained recognition during season 5 of American Idol, where she delivered memorable performances of Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” and Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing.” Despite being eliminated in the top 9, Mandisa’s talent and grace on the show endeared her to many fans.

During her time on Idol, Mandisa famously forgave judge Simon Cowell for making a hurtful comment about her weight. She expressed forgiveness and grace towards him, citing her faith as a guiding principle.
