A tragic and fatal attack involving a small dog in a Hollywood neighborhood has sparked outrage and concern among residents. Last weekend, a 3-year-old Shih Tzu named Luna was brutally killed by a large, unrestrained dog in the city’s Liberia neighborhood.
Luna’s owner, Abe Massre, shared a heartbreaking video with Local 10 showing his desperate attempt to save her, but unfortunately, it was not enough. “He had her by the neck and she was crying, hitting this thing. He wouldn’t let her go,” Massre recounted.
This incident has brought to light previous attacks involving the same dog. Last year, a woman came forward claiming she was attacked by the dog, questioning why more hasn’t been done to ensure the neighborhood’s safety. The victim, who chose to remain anonymous, stated that she was bitten multiple times while protecting her two Chihuahuas.
Massre is now advocating for the dog to be euthanized, questioning why it wasn’t classified as dangerous after the initial attack. “You have a responsibility as a pet owner to do the right thing and you really need to put your dog down,” he emphasized.
Efforts to reach the dog’s owner for comment have been unsuccessful, and discussions with the Hollywood police are underway regarding the next steps concerning the dog’s status. Residents are left feeling fearful and unsafe in their own neighborhood, calling for action to prevent future tragedies.
