Honors from the Mason-Dixon Region: News, Sports, Jobs

Tygarts Valley High School’s Kaden Moore and Sarah Defibaugh have both been recognized for their outstanding performances on the basketball court by being named to the all-Mason-Dixon Conference first team.

Moore, a junior, was joined by a talented group of players including Preston Luzader, Cooper Payton, and Braden Ponceroff from Clay-Battelle, as well as other standout athletes from schools across the conference. The second team featured players like Jacob Wamsley and J.C. Spears, while seniors Ethan McGee and Malachi Somers received honorable mentions.

The league champions, Clay-Battelle, saw their players Colby Barr and Cameron’s Lance Hartley share the title of co-Players of the Year. Coach of the Year honors went to Cameron’s Tom Hart, who led his team to success throughout the season.

On the girls’ side, Tygarts Valley’s Sarah Defibaugh made the all-Mason-Dixon Conference team for her impressive play as a sophomore guard. The Player of the Year title went to Ashlynn Van Tassell from Cameron, with Coach of the Year going to Holly Pettit.

The first team also included players like Trinity’s Jenna Barnett, Clay-Battelle’s Laikyn Dalton, and South Harrison’s Halle Bland. The second team featured athletes like Summer Lewis-Smith and Maci Neely, while Alyssa Swecker received an honorable mention.

Overall, the all-Mason-Dixon Conference teams showcased the incredible talent and dedication of these student-athletes, highlighting their hard work and commitment to their sport.
