Horner: Red Bull taking their time to announce 2025 driver lineup in F1

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Red Bull Team Boss Christian Horner has revealed that the team is not in a rush to announce its driver line-up for the 2025 season, amidst reports of talks with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. While Max Verstappen is locked in with Red Bull until 2028, Sergio Perez’s contract only runs until the end of this year.

Perez himself expressed hope to announce his plans for next season soon, leading to speculation about his future with the team. Red Bull’s motorsport consultant Helmut Marko confirmed talks with Sainz, but mentioned that Audi had made an offer that Red Bull couldn’t match.

Horner emphasized that the team is not under pressure to make a decision, given the high level of interest from drivers wanting to join Red Bull. He expressed satisfaction with the current driver pairing and highlighted the need for Perez to maintain his performance consistency.

Perez, who has faced challenges in matching Verstappen’s pace, is currently second in the championship standings, trailing his teammate by 13 points and leading Sainz by just nine points. With Sainz being a sought-after talent, Horner acknowledged the interest surrounding the driver and suggested that Audi would be wise to consider his quality.

As the speculation continues, fans eagerly await the official announcement of Red Bull’s driver line-up for the 2025 season, with the team keeping their options open in the competitive world of Formula 1.
