HP is gearing up for a significant surge in sales of its gaming personal computers (PC) in India, with projections indicating a growth of 20%-25% in the coming years. Vineet Gehani, senior director of consumer sales at HP India, shared this optimistic outlook with FE, highlighting the increasing popularity of gaming PCs in the market.
According to Gehani, gaming currently accounts for about 15-16% of the market, with HP’s share slightly higher. However, he foresees this segment growing to at least 20-25% in the near future, driven by higher sales of gaming PCs even in the current fiscal year.
The launch of the HP Omen Transcend 14 series for gaming and content creation, equipped with NVIDIA GPU, Intel Core Ultra processors, and AI-enhanced features, further underscores the company’s commitment to the gaming segment. Gehani emphasized that gaming has been the fastest-growing sub-segment of the PC market, outpacing overall PC growth in recent years.
Notably, reports indicate that HP’s sales of gaming PCs in India have more than doubled over the past two years, reaching 285,000 units by March 31, 2023. Despite a relatively flat business performance in 2022-23, the gaming segment has continued to thrive.
Looking ahead, HP remains focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to drive product upgrades and enhance user experiences. By collaborating with key industry players like Intel, AMD, Nvidia, and Microsoft, the company aims to integrate advanced AI capabilities into its devices and stay at the forefront of technological innovation. With PC penetration in India still relatively low compared to western countries, HP sees ample opportunities for growth and expansion in the market.
