Huens from UNCW Dominates 2024 CAA Men’s Tennis Postseason Awards

UNCW’s Harold Huens has been named the 2024 CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Year, leading the pack of postseason award winners as voted by the league’s head coaches. The junior standout compiled an impressive 11-5 record while competing at the No. 1 singles spot for UNCW. Additionally, he was ranked 61st nationally in doubles with partner Reece Falck after achieving a 16-4 mark. Huens’ stellar performance at the CAA Tournament, where he went 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles, earned him the title of Most Outstanding Player.

On the other hand, William & Mary’s Oliver Hague was recognized as the CAA Rookie of the Year for his outstanding performance throughout the season. Hague boasted a remarkable 24-9 record in singles, including a 15-5 record in dual matches. His partnership with Satchel Benn in doubles was equally impressive, finishing the year on a 14-match winning streak and registering a 19-5 overall record.

UNCW’s head coach, Mait DuBois, received the CAA Coach of the Year award for the 10th time after guiding the team to a 17-6 overall record and their fourth consecutive CAA title. The Seahawks, ranked No. 57 nationally, advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in 16 seasons.

Huens was joined by other standout players on the All-CAA singles first team, including Mateo Bivol from Monmouth, Ostap Kovalenko from Hofstra, Veljko Krstic from Elon, Karol Malirz from Delaware, and Damien Nezar from Campbell. The All-CAA doubles first team featured Huens and Falck from UNCW, Malirz and Javier Ruiz from Delaware, and Maes and Nezar from Campbell.
