Hughesville Sophomore Kylie Temple Sets New Personal Record in 300 Hurdles

Hughesville sophomore Kylie Temple had been chasing a new personal best in the 300 hurdles for almost a year, with 16 unsuccessful attempts following her previous record. However, all her hard work paid off at the Lock Haven Invitational track meet on Friday when she finally broke through, shaving .02 seconds off her previous PR and winning the meet title in the process.

Temple expressed her excitement, stating, “It felt really good to come out here and finally get to my PR from last year and go below it. I love this track and I always feel so much better running here.” Despite facing tough competition, Temple pushed through and finished strong to secure the victory.

In addition to her success in the 300 hurdles, Temple also set a new personal record in the 200 dash, earning a silver medal with a time of 26.54. She credits her hard work over the offseason for her improved performance and has her sights set on further progress heading into the postseason.

Her coach, Fredrick Glenwright, praised Temple’s talent and work ethic, stating, “Her best days are still ahead of her. She has good talent. She works hard. She still wants to improve, and I think she will.” Temple’s younger sister, Katelyn, also made a significant impact at the meet, placing in the top six in three events and setting personal records in each.

Overall, the Hughesville girls team had a strong showing at the meet, with the Temple sisters contributing significantly to the team’s success. Despite some setbacks due to illness and injuries, the team remains optimistic about their performance and looks forward to continued improvement in future competitions.
