The death toll from devastating floods in Afghanistan has surpassed 300, creating a massive humanitarian crisis in the country. The World Food Programme reported that the floods have caused widespread destruction in the provinces of Badakhshan, Ghor, Baghlan, and Herat, with nearly 2,000 homes damaged.

The flash floods in Baghlan alone have claimed the lives of more than 130 people and left around 100 others injured. Local officials fear that the death toll could rise even further as rescue and recovery efforts continue. Thousands of residential homes, agricultural land, and livestock have been lost in the floods, leaving many communities devastated.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is leading emergency response efforts in seven affected provinces, providing assistance to hundreds of thousands of stranded individuals.
