Hundreds of tonnes of food sent by UAE to Gaza – Global Outreach

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has once again shown its commitment to providing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza by partnering with the American Near East Refugee Aid (Anera) to scale up assistance and address the ongoing crisis in the region. Today, a significant amount of aid in the form of 400 tonnes of food has arrived at Ashdod port via Larnaca in Cyprus, ready to be transported to Gaza to meet the urgent needs of the population.

The Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, emphasized the critical need for humanitarian relief in Gaza, stating that the UAE is actively seeking all possible avenues to deliver lifesaving aid to the region. The UAE is dedicated to cooperating with international partners to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza who are facing dire humanitarian conditions.

Anera, in collaboration with the UAE Government, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to deliver essential aid to Palestinians in Gaza. Anera CEO and President, Sean Carroll, highlighted the importance of this partnership in providing much-needed assistance to those at risk of starvation in the north of Gaza. Anera has already distributed over 24 million meals in Gaza since mid-October, and this new partnership is expected to reach millions more individuals during this critical time.

The UAE’s efforts to support humanitarian initiatives in Gaza have been commendable, with over 31,000 tonnes of urgent supplies, including food, relief, and medical items, being delivered through various means such as flights, airdrops, trucks, and ships. The UAE’s commitment to providing aid to Gaza underscores its dedication to supporting those in need and working alongside the international community to address the crisis in the region.

The support of the Government of Cyprus and the Amalthea Initiative has also been crucial in facilitating the delivery of aid to Gaza, further highlighting the collaborative efforts of multiple entities in addressing the humanitarian crisis. The partnership between the UAE and Anera is just one example of the ongoing efforts to provide assistance to those affected by the crisis in Gaza, and it is hoped that this will be the first of many shipments to come.

As the UAE continues to demonstrate its commitment to humanitarian aid in Gaza, the international community stands united in supporting the people of Gaza during this challenging time. The delivery of aid to Gaza is a testament to the UAE’s unwavering dedication to providing relief to those in need and working towards a more stable and secure future for the region.
