In a thrilling day of high school girls’ golf, the Pillager Huskies and Pierz Pioneers showcased their skills at separate events on Monday, April 15.
In the West Central Area Quad at Tipsinah Mounds, the Pillager Huskies finished second as a team with a total score of 307. Kimberly Keefe led the way for the Huskies with an impressive score of 91. Haley Hall followed with a score of 103, Rya Glas with 113, and Kaylie Glas with 138. The team scores were as follows: 1-Border West 289, 2-Pillager 307, T3-West Central 315, T3-Ottertail Central 315, 5-Ashby Brandon Evansville 324, 6-Hillcrest Lutheran 342. The individual medalist was Paige Beyer from Border West with a score of 82. The Huskies’ next challenge will be in the Quad County Conference meet at Balmoral on Thursday, April 25.
Meanwhile, at the Becker Bulldog Invite at Pebble Creek Golf Club, the Pierz Pioneers placed ninth as a team with a total score of 397. Joleen Weyer led the Pioneers with a score of 96, followed by Whitney LeBlanc with 97, Kari LeBlanc with 101, and Cameryn Herold with 103. The team scores were as follows: 1-Detroit Lakes 312, 2-Rogers 344, 3-Legacy Christian 356, 4-Albany 371, 5-Monticello 372, 6-Hutchinson 377, 7-Becker 388, 8-Heritage Christian 396, 9-Pierz 397, 10-St. Cloud Cathedral 407, 11-Waconia 445, 11-Big Lake 445. The individual medalists were Sophie Christianson from Detroit Lakes and Brooke Brekke from ACG, both with a score of 77. The Pioneers’ next challenge will be in the Granite Ridge Conference meet at Stones Throw Golf Course on Wednesday, April 17.
