Hyundai Leads in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hybrid and Electric Cars Rankings

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Hyundai has been awarded the most hybrid and electric awards of any brand by U.S. News & World Report, with three of its vehicles taking the top spots in their respective categories. The 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 was named Best Electric SUV, the 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 was named Best Electric Car, and the 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid was named Best Hybrid SUV.

U.S. News & World Report evaluated 96 hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric models before selecting the winners in ten vehicle categories. Factors such as quality, value, and performance were taken into consideration, along with EPA efficiency data, pricing, and feedback from other automotive media outlets. The awards also considered reliability findings from J.D. Power and safety research from organizations like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

John Vincent, senior editor at U.S. News & World Report, praised Hyundai for its leadership in the electric vehicle market, highlighting the competitive range and fast charging capabilities of the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6. Ricky Lao, director of product planning at Hyundai Motor North America, expressed pride in winning three awards and emphasized the company’s commitment to providing outstanding performance, quality, and value in their vehicles.

In addition to these awards, Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 and Tucson SUVs were also named to U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Cars for Families” list earlier this year. The recognition further solidifies Hyundai’s position as a top contender in the electric and hybrid vehicle market.
